Electrical Receptacles in Patient Care Areas
This white paper, titled “Electrical Receptacles in Patient Care Areas: Determining Quantities, Location, and Code Compliance for Operationalizing Patient Care,” provides information to help designers, owners, regulators, and other users of the Guidelines determine the quantities and configuration of electrical receptacles needed to operationalize patient care areas. The authors’ approach is not prescriptive but tailored to the functions of the space being designed.
Basics about relevant codes and standards along with useful definitions are included. Design and planning considerations for determining receptacle quantities and locations are discussed, using a patient room as an example.
The authors recommend a process for identifying electrical receptacle requirements for health care spaces and have developed a needs assessment tool that can be used in this process.
As mentioned in episode 6 of Between the Lines with FGI.
