Learning & Development Lead (Volunteer)
Position: Learning & Development Lead (Volunteer)
Organization: Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI)
Location: Remote (United States)
Reports to: Director of Education
Position Type: Volunteer
Time Commitment: 4 Hours / Week

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and creative Lead Instructional Designer to develop e-learning materials for our diverse audience of professionals in the health care design industry.
As part of the education team, you will contribute to the development of digital content for instructor-led training (ILTs), multi-media interactive e-learning courses, and educational resources that align with our organizational goals.
As the Lead Instructional Designer for the volunteer team, you will also partner with the volunteer team by providing an added layer of mentorship and support towards successful project completion. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain and expand their experience in instructional design and educational content creation in a non-profit setting.

Key Responsibilities:
- Learning & Development Content Creation:
- • Develop engaging and educational materials (e.g., e-learning modules, lesson plans, and worksheets) for our strategic education program.
- • Design and edit e-learning content for our training programs, instructional guides, and online courses.
- • Ensure content is clear, concise, engaging, and aligned with the needs of diverse learners.
- Research & Analysis:
- • Analyze feedback from program participants to continuously improve and update educational materials.
- • Engage with industry professionals and FGI staff to indentify educational needs.
- Collaboration:
- • Work closely with Education Consultant and Learning & Development volunteer team to ensure content meets organizational needs, goals, and timelines.
- • Partner with the volunteer team by providing an added layer of mentorship and support towards successful project completion.
- • Gain insight from stakeholders within FGI (including the CEO, VP of Content and Outreach, Managing Editor, and Associate Editors) on content needs.
- • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas for new learning initiatives.
- Multimedia Development:
- • Create and edit multimedia elements such as videos, audio recordings, and interactive tools to enhance learning experiences.
- • Assist in developing digital tools or interactive elements (e.g., quizzes, simulations) to engage learners.
- Content Review & Evaluation:
- • Review and test learning materials for quality, usability, and effectiveness.
- • Gather feedback from learners and FGI staff to ensure continuous improvement.

Qualifications:
- Essential Qualifications:
- • Previous experience in content creation, instructional design, or a related field (volunteer or professional).
- • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.
- • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Dropbox.
- • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and/or e-learning software (e.g., Articulate, Captivate) is a plus.
- • Design skills within content creation programs (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar tools) is a plus.
- • Prior knowledge of the FGI Guidelines for Design and Construction documents.
- • Experience in the health care design and construction industry.
