About Dr. Marie Martin
Marie Martin is the Program Analyst for the VHA Safe Patient Handling and Mobility (SPHM) program. She led the safe patient handling and mobility program at VA North Texas Health Care System between 2008 and 2022. She has been involved in national SPHM leadership since 2014. She was one of the principal authors of the 2nd edition of FGI’s publication “Patient Handling and Mobility Assessments: A White Paper.” She leads the collaborative efforts between VHA SPHM and VA Construction and Facilities Management (CFM) and was the primary author of the brief summary of space and facility design considerations within the VHA Bariatric SPHM Guidebook. Her PhD is in Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences from the University of Washington.
